  • Basic knowledge of sewing and garment construction.

Pattern Fundamentals:

  • Introduction to essential pattern blocks (bodice, skirt, sleeve).
  • Understanding grainlines, seam allowances, and ease.
  • Exploring the anatomy of a pattern and its components.

Dart Manipulation:

  • Techniques for adding, rotating, and removing darts.
  • Creating style lines by manipulating darts.
  • Applying dart adjustments to achieve desired garment shapes.

Gathers and Pleats:

  • Different types of gathers (e.g., box pleats, knife pleats).
  • Incorporating gathers for volume and movement.
  • Using pleats strategically to enhance design aesthetics.

Sustainable Practices:

  • Encouraging eco-friendly approaches in fashion design.
  • Applying concepts to minimize material usage.

 

Miniature Patterns:

  • Working with quarter-size patterns based on real size 8 measurements.
  • Understanding scale and proportion in pattern manipulation.
  • Applying techniques to smaller templates for efficient learning.

Creative Exploration:

  • Using basic templates as a canvas for experimentation.
  • Applying pattern manipulation techniques to create unique designs.
  • Fostering creativity and innovation.
